Connecting an Exchange Calendar in Launcher is straight forward and , once done, allows you to schedule meetings in outlook and launch them with one-touch in a meeting space.
Launcher software can be configured to connect with an Exchange account to connect calendar events, including rooms accounts and personal events.
Exchange integration has been achieved using Exchange Web Services API (Exchange server development documentation). Exchange passwords are encrypted and stored in the Launcher software application data.
Enter room mailbox email
The room mailbox email is a resource mailbox that is assigned to a physical location, such as a conference room, an auditorium, or a training room. The email address for the room mailbox is used to schedule meetings and is essential in order to enable the room calendar within Launcher.
Exchange email and password
The Exchange account email and password are used by Launcher in combination with Exchange Web Services URL, to authenticate the Exchange account. This email can be a delegate or it can be the room name if it's set up as a 365 user.
This exchange email is the primary account that manages the room calendar, but note that the room mailbox may be different, more on that below.
Most importantly, the Exchange account must be assigned permissions to manage the room mailbox for the room calendar to be set up successfully.
For more information on room mailbox management, please refer to Microsoft documentation: Create and manage room mailboxes.
URL(Exchange Web Services)
The Exchange Web Services URL is used to connect to the Exchange server. To obtain the correct URL, simply select the "Auto-discover" option and Launcher will generate the Exchange server URL.
Unless you are hosting your own Exchange server, the URL provided with the "Auto-discover" option will connect you to the correct server. If you're hosting your own Exchange server, please refer to Microsoft documentation: Exchange Server.
Example set up
In the example below, please consider the following:
- The room mailbox email used is: boardroom@acmetechnologies.com.
- The Exchange email is : boardroom@acmetechnologies.com.
- Password is the room's 365 account password
- The URL (Exchange Web Services) is automatically generated by the "Auto-discover" option.
