The Omni client running on your laptop uses multiple different ways to find the host Omni device (Your Omni screen or Camera) running on your network. To ensure you can be discovered successfully please check the following:
Please first make sure of the following:
- Omni is installed on the device you wish to connect to
- Omni is open on the device you wish the to connect to
- Although you can connect to Omni when it is running in the background, to ensure all is open and working as intended, please open the Omni app on your host device
Does Omni have access to your network
If Omni cannot access your network it will show a 'No network screen', if you see this screen please check the host device is connected to a network. This can be wired or wireless, however for best results we recommend you use a wired connection for your host.
Are the Omni host and client on the same network
The Omni host and client need to be able to discover and connect to one another. As such, please make sure that they are either
On the same network. If they are on the same network they can discover and connect to each other
On a connected subnet. Omni can work across subnets, however both networks need to be able to talk to each other. To work across the subnet, they both need to either have bluetooth or access to the internet. This will allow the client and host to find each other and connect
